Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF) has been named associate sponsor and official nutrition sponsor of Holmenkollstafetten, Norway's largest relay race.
It is the first major sponsorship deal for the company in the Nordic region.
Established in 1923, Holmenkollstafetten takes place May 13, 2006. More than 15,000 participants, who take part in teams of 15, are expected to participate.
As official nutrition sponsor, Herbalife joins a number of other high profile brand names such as Mizuno sports clothes and VG, one of the country's leading newspapers.
Herbalife employees, independent distributors and their friends and families will compete as "Team Herbalife" in relay distances ranging from 400 to 2500 meters.

In June 2005 Herbalife announced a four-year, multi-million dollar sponsorship of the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour in the U.S., that makes the company the Official Nutritional Advisor to the tour through the 2007 season. Liftoff(TM), Herbalife's effervescent energy supplement, is the official drink of the tour. In August the company announced a multi-year, multi-tiered sponsorship agreement that names Herbalife a "Founding Partner" of AEG-owned and -operated Home Depot Center in Carson, California, as well as the "Presenting Sponsor" of the 2005 JPMorgan Chase Open WTA tennis tournament. It also designates Herbalife the Official Nutrition Company / sponsor of several additional AEG-owned and -operated teams, events, and initiatives around the world including the upcoming Tour of California.
Herbalife is also the official nutrition sponsor of the Michelob ULTRA London Triathlon, Nautica Malibu Triathlon, Laguna Phuket Triathlon and participated in Trofeu Brasil de Triathlon. The company also sponsors triathlete Olly Freeman, current under-20 European Junior Triathlon champion and World Junior Duathlon Champion and U.S. triathlete Erika Aklufi.
